AGENDA

Digitalization of security and defense:

During the meeting, IT industry representatives were presented with the results of an analysis of the digitalization status of Ukraine’s security and defense sector, conducted by the NSDC Office. Special attention was paid to the assessment methodology, which considers two important dimensions: quantitative—the list and coverage of defined capabilities, and qualitative—the depth of their automation.

Participants reviewed how existing information and communication systems provide the defined capabilities, the level of automation already achieved, and where gaps remain in specific functional blocks. This approach allows for assessing digitalization not only by the number of systems implemented but also by their actual role in processes and their ability to support the execution of specific tasks.

A crucial part of the discussion was the further automation of processes and the use of modern technologies, including solutions based on artificial intelligence. As the level of automation grows, the role of humans is changing — from fully manual process execution to models where the system can analyze data, propose solutions, or perform significant parts of operations under a specialist’s control.

For the iiTD team, participation in such a meeting is an opportunity to directly engage in a professional dialogue between the state and the private technology sector, better understand the current needs of the security and defense sector, and determine where IT companies’ expertise can add the most practical value.

Further digital transformation of the sector requires not only technologies but also systemic interaction between the state and business — from forming requirements and setting priorities to finding solutions that can be scaled and integrated into the existing digital infrastructure.

We thank the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the IT Ukraine Association for the opportunity to participate in this discussion. We are pleased to be part of the professional dialogue and support the development of digital solutions for Ukraine’s security and defense sector.

Participation in professional associations gives businesses the opportunity not only to exchange experiences but also to contribute to the formation of solutions at the state level.

Thanks to iITD’s membership in the IT Ukraine Association, we have a platform for direct dialogue with government authorities, understanding the strategic needs of the security and defense sector, and showcasing the practical expertise of the technology business.

Such associations help align market participants’ positions, formulate joint proposals, and transform companies’ professional expertise into concrete initiatives for Ukraine’s digital transformation.
